Why so much variation in firmware between cars?
So the past couple months I've had to have my 2017 Allroad in the shop a few times and have had a couple different loaners. On each of them, I've noticed subtle firmware differences that would be improvements in my own car if they existed:
Q5- virtual dashboard doesn't reset to useless home page on car restart (or at least restarts with the map up when I left it there).
A3- Hitting the phone button on center cluster while in CarPlay mode doesn't take me to CarPlay, but at least offers me a choice to go there. On my AllRoad it just tells me, tough luck, you're in CarPlay so nothing I can do!
So why aren't these items standard in the Allroad firmware? Or is there an update my dealer can apply to get these features? Or can I get them with some kind of tweaking?

Yes. They do make subtle changes. And no. They won’t update your firmware for you unless there’s an issue with it (like MMI getting stuck every now and then or something). Else we’re stuck with what we get.
