Alot of people are migrating out of the state for that reason. Its amazing how many CA people are in WA. You could always try Idaho. It seemed to be one of the most beautiful states when driving cross country. Coeur d'Alene is absolutely stunning. Pic does not do it justice at all. Unfotunately when we were going through last time, we were in a bit of a rush(5th day of cross country drive)and I didn't take pics.
