Default 1.8T or 2.8 01 A4?

I'm looking at buying an 01 A4 but I can't decide to go with a 1.8T or the 2.8 V6? Any recomendations or reasons for either side?

1.8t for cheaper tuning options, 2.8 for less mechanical issues... where are you located?

Default Depends on what you want

1.8T if you plan on chipping it
2.8 if you like NA engine

Drive both, then decide.

Default I've driven both - I prefer the 2.8 for lower end torque

most prefer the T for the punch it gives. But the 2.8 has the quickest times vs a stock 1.8

Default Want to mod it?...................

Go for the 1.8 for less $$$ and less reliability. No mods? Go with the V6. Still want to mod the V6? Super charger (many $$$). I drive the 30V for my own car and really like it even though it is not a real high performance car. I drive my kid's non chipped 1.8 (170hp) quite a bit and I would pick the 30V over the 1.8t stock.

Thanks, I'd prefer something that I don't have to worry about...I would love to mod it, but I live in a downtown area with no room to work on it myself...so, I think i'll go with the 2.8. It seems that it will run better at high mileage and I don't have to worry about the turbo and all related issues caused when that has problems.

Default Make sure you have the data on when the Timing belt, Water pump, tensioner and thermostat were done.

If you have no data those items being done in the last 60K miles - then assume they need to be done immediately.
