1998 A4 1.8T Air Conditioning not blowing cold air
Hiya.
My A/C refuses to blow cold air. This failure probably started earlier in spring, but here in Seattle the need for cooling didn't really hit till last weekend. Brought the car in to my local mechanic, who is an Audi fan and has always given me great service. He tried simply recharging the coolant, but it's not low, and said that the problem is electrical somewhere in the dash, and recommended taking it to the dealer (I think fixing A/C is beyond him.)
Is there some way, short of bringing to the dealer, that I can diagnose the problem so as not to get ripped off when the car is indeed at the dealer? The button seems to work (get the little snowflake in the display) and there are no bad noises, but no cold air, either.
Thanks

You get teh snowflake, but no cold air. Sounds like a stuck flap to me. ....
Try finding someone who has a VAG COM and read the codes on the HVAC system. It will tell you if you have a stick flap somewhere, most often.
