Re: still gotta splice...
I called audi and the guy said the wiring harness for a 2001 headlight is 240$ per side. then id still need to do the wiring. thats INSANE
ECS does have a wiring harness but they say its for the model of headlight they sell and they say they dont know if it fits with a 2001 factory headlight.
anyone one know for sure. i dont want to spend 100$ on them and have them not work.

all youre buying from audi is the plug then use
the same ga. wire to make the harness you need and splice...youll save a sh*tload of money.
i went to PA to pick up the 'harness' which isnt really the harness but a plug with wires coming out you have to splice, and they had to run to the vw dealer before i cam to get the connector for the headlight and some wire to make the kit.
its a very simple a cheap thing to do...and its def not 240 thats prolly the entire headlight harness that runs back to the fusebox or past the firewall or something.
im checking what ECS has now...1 sec.

if youre talking about A4 European Headlight Wiring Harness ES#86 from ECS
thats the plug...if youre electrically inclined at all and comfortable with splicing you can get the plug and use wire to create the same thing... mine was spliced and after i picked up the harness i realized its such a small part i actually needed. just an electrical connector and some wire to make the same thing. that said ECS does make it alot easier by labeling which wire splices to which on your car by color and has it all assembled already. I had qfrog's help installing the 1 piece headlights and his help with the wiring was good since we were rushing so damn much...
its up to you whichever way you wanna go...the harness from ECS for $50 is pretty fair in the end saving you hassle.
