1999 A4 Crazy Computer!

My A4 started acting up with the dome lights not working. The next morning I noticed the windows were all open (on their own) and the battery was dead. I charged the batt and hooked it up only to have the windows start to go up and down without me touching a thing. Is there a computer chip that is going bad and where is it located?
Thanks David

I haven't had it scanned for codes yet just thought I would try to replace the chip if I can.

Passenger side, trunk floor.

CLM is there. See if it is wet. What aftermarket crap do you have?

Should scan first to see what the problem is before you start replacing parts.

Of course.

The module is only a few hundred bucks, by all means, buy two.

OK, my clp is wet... opened it up and am going
to try to dry it out and see if it works. Can I replace it myself or do I need to take it to the dealer? How much should it cost? TNXS David

You can replace it yourself, I just did mine. Expensive part though so dont go to the dealer . .

unless you want to. Try Ebay or online somewhere and Im sure you will find something.

Its fairly simple to do, unplug from old and plug into new. I would also suggest wrapping it in plastic bag to keep it from getting wet again.

There is a write-up in the tech section that shows how to do it all.

Meyers1, thanks for the input. So the clp is just plug and play? No reprograming required?
Mine is toast. David
