2.7T conversion
i know this has probably been ask about a million times before, the 1.8t engine in my 97 audi a4 non quattro decided to take a dump on me, and i'm wanting to find out if i could swap the 1.8 for the 2.7t, my buddy is sellin his out of his s4 and thought i'd buy it, is the s4 transmission the only one that will go with that engine, any help is appreciated, thanks

NO. NO. Motor swap is very involved & transmission also will NOT work on your non quattro car.
And NO NO NO NO NO you can NOT just swap in the quattro running gear at all. The whole rear of the car is completely different.
There is a LOT more involved than swapping it over even with a Quattro car. Subframes, full wire harness, suspension/axles, cooling system, gauge cluster, computers............. do NOT even consider it unless you have huge amounts of $$ and can do all the work yourself including fabrication and wire sorting.

Engines Shot
besides the blue smoke of death, it jumped timing, the oil cooler adapter, the part that bolts directly to the block cracked 2 days ago and started spraying oil everywhere, it also needs a transmission, it won't even get into 4th gear.....umm, more to it than that, just the short version

also me being in the military i don't make enough money to just take it and have it rebuilt, and i really don't have the time to be working on it at all, and most cases a rebuilt cost more than just buying a low mileage newer motor

He would need to swap out the rear diff anyway even if it was a Quattro....
So if you had to drop the $$ on the diff even if it was quattro go for it. You can get yourself a Quattro car while you at it.
