Default 2001 Audi A4 B5 2.8 Quattro Misfire! Please Help!!

Hi, I have a 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro with 140,000 miles that I recently bought. When I hook up my Vag-Com, the scanner says intermittent misfire, cyl 1, 2 and 3 misfire, and o2 sensor codes. I am currently in the process of replacing the pre-cat o2 sensors, and I have already replaced the plug wires, plugs and I have put seafoam thru the intake, and the oil and changed the oil, and I put fuel system cleaner in the tank. I'm thinking it's a bad camshaft position sensor, but I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Daniel

Also: If i clear all codes, and only run the engine below 2,000 rpm, it won't misfire. Above that, the CEL comes on, and flashes, and when i drop the rpms down, continues to flash for about 30 seconds, then it's on solid until I clear it again. When taking off from a stop, the car has decent power until it gets above about 3,500 rpm, then it seems to fall on it's face. Also, it won't shift unless I let my foot off the pedal a little bit, then put it back on.

Thanks, Daniel

Try swapping the coils for 1,2,3 with the ones for 4,5,6. Then see if the miss moves with the coils.

I would skip this. Not only is it very difficult to rewire the coil pack, but the pack only contains three coils that supply spark to both sides. There will be no difference.

My guess is a timing problem. Check belt timing first, then chain. Could be a broken guide on the cam chain adjuster.
