97'-99' Pushdown reverse owners...does the stick stay pushed down when you put it in reverse?

97'-99' Pushdown reverse owners...does the stick stay pushed down when you put it in reverse?
i asked this question before but didnt get an answer... so im asking again...I recently installed the UUC short shift in my 97' and the reverse doesn't feel right. When i push down the stick and put it in reverse, the stick stay down briefly for like a second then pops back up....i forgot how it was stock.... did it stay down in reverse? or was it up? thanks.... need to know if something is wrong with my shifter...
