98.5 1.8t hesitation after warm up

My 98.5, 1.8t is starting to hesitate. I've noticed it more after driving for 15 minutes. It may get worse as I drive. I notice it mostly once it shifts into another gear and tries to accelerate. It feels like its bucking. It doesn't feel like the auto transmission. Is this a sign that the turbo is going out? Back spark plugs? Any other ideas.

Thanks.

id say spark plugs/CPs for hesitation, and the bucking may be your mounts.

First what is your mileage, time since TB change, - for sure get the codes read

and if there are not codes try a can of BG 44K.
Coil packs could be going bad - same for needing plugs etc. Hard to say with so little info on car.

Mileage is around 117,000. TB was done around 80 I believe.

Is there a way to test coil packs?

It only does it after the car is warm. Is that a symptom of coil packs?

I have a Gross Evap leak but that has been going on and off for the last 3 years because I never turn the car off getting gas. I should check if there is a new code.

Bucking is just another adjective to describe the hesitation/stutter. Mounts are ok.

never turn the car off when getting gas. Please explain this horrid practice

Re: never turn the car off when getting gas. Please explain this horrid practice

Years ago I'd trouble starting the car after getting gas. So, I avoided that problem by never turnning it off. Problem solved (temporarily). I do it out of habit now.

Whats so horrid about it? Are you one of those people that are afraid to use their cell phone around a gas pump?

Casablanca Avant 05-29-2008 10:40 AM

well that is probably tripping your evap code because the car is running and

the gas cap is open.....

Yup, I know that. Thats why I don't worry about it. I just make sure its off when the car needs its

...emissions done.
