A4 2.8 new head gaskets
I have a 98 2.8 A4 was blowing white smoke. Just wrapped up installing new head gaskets and it is still blowing white smoke.
I had the heads machined, block was smooth, installation was without issue.
Am I missing something?
Just a lost cause?
Please help?

Sorry it has taken so long to reply.
It is the 30 valve. Bought the car neeeing a fuel pump, once i got it running it started smoking like a fog machine. Of course the seller was nowhere to be found.
So I removed the heads, had them machined. Was told they were pretty straight to begin with. Car got new victor reinz head gaskets, and head bolts, new intake, valve cover, tensioner gaskets. New timing belt and water pump.
Tightened the heads to 44 ft pounds plus 90 degrees plus 90 degrees. Followed the sequences found online.
Havent drove it too far for fear of causing an accident from the cloud it leaves behind.
Havent noticed any coolant loss, no mixing with oil. Not leaking anywhere.
Does it just need driven?
Thank you

Well the exhaust can fill full of coolant if it blows bad enough. It takes quite abit of time and exhaust temp to get it all out. Find out if its really using coolant now.
