A4 2.8q Rims
i recently purchased a set of rims for my 98.5 a4 off of ebay for $400. they are 18x8 ronal r7 wheels with a 5x112 bolt pattern with pirelli tires. they have a 45mm offset i dont know what that means. i installed them myself. i simply swapped them with stock wheels. when i make turns at slow speeds i sometimes here something either touching or popping, especially when making a turn with the wheel completely turned. was i supposed to use any hardware with the install? should i have purchased wheel spacers?
any help is appreciated thank - mike http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ronal-R-75-Rims-with-Pirelli-P-Zero-Tires-A4-S4-325is_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ66484QQitemZ80473 73616QQrdZ1 |
your wheels are rubbing on the inside against suspension components because of wrong offset
For 8" wide rims, this offset should have been around 35mm, which means you should get 10mm spacers which will push the rims out a little.

Stock offset is 35mm if I remeber correctly...
So you need spacers.

thanks do you have any suggestions on where i can get them
do you think i damaged anythign yet im had them on for aprox 50 miles |
looks like the tires are 225/40/18, which should be OK.
|
maybe...
try www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com
You will also need longer lugbolts. As far as damage... I really don't know. My guess is you probably scraped the tire sidewalls somewhat. |
possibly the inner side wall of your tire, take one off and check..
|
what size lugbolts do i need to purchase with the 10mm spacers
|
well... 10mm longer bolts than what you have now...
talk to Mike @ PureMS - he'll hook you up with the right ones when you explain to him what you're trying to do. He may even have the right spacers as well.
