I have an A4, 3.0. (2004)
A while back, my stepson ran up the curb and punched a hole in the bottom of the engine block.
So engine no good
Transmission (one of those odd audi transmissions that you don't feel shift) worked great over the life of the car. (while it was running of course)
Body is perfect and interior has a few minor issues. (glove box door and center console door needs attention)
Trying to figure out worth. Ideas?
Me and a friend of mine just purchased a 2002 A4 Avant V6 with manual transmission with 148k miles and no wheels for $350. Problems are parasitic drain and a bunch of cosmetic issues. Engine runs and drives fine. We basically have to find a set of wheels for it. We were going to part it out but it’s in relatively good condition.
For an engine swap, you’d have to find an engine for it most likely $600. The buyer would be someone like my friend and I who would get an engine and swap it. If it wasn’t worth it, we’d part it out. We wouldn’t pay anything more than $500 for a non running car that needed an engine in pristine condition. $250 to $350 if it is very rough. If the interior, exterior and wheels are in good condition, then a motor swap would be worth it but if everything is rough then a part out would make monetary sense.

The body is clean and the wheels (and tires) are in good condition.
I drove it quite a bit when it was running and the only work I did to it was the window regulator on both front windows.

What exactly is wrong with it? Hitting something wouldn’t crack the engine. More like the oil pan. What makes you think the engine is gone? Cracked the oil pan and ran out of oil and let it keep running?
