A4 won't start when jumping w/live battery...
I had left a dome light on overnight and car wouldn't start by next morning. I tried jumping the battery, engine would turn, but won't start. I then had the battery tested and found that it was no longer a good battery (3.5 years old). So I bought a new battery, however, same result; engine turns but won't start. All electronics will work except for the RADIO. Question: does the A4 computer need to be reset after a dead battery? And why won't the radio work? Hopefully, I won't have to take the car into the dealership. Thanks for your help!

Take a wire brush and clean off the connections to the battery.
(obviously, you want to remove both connections first) If that still doesn't work, bring the battery back, and ask for a replacement. It does sound like you've got a dead battery on your hands...have them check the next one before you take it home.

Good thinkin!
If the engine turns over slowly, then you've still got a dead battery on your hands.
If the engine turns over normally, but just won't start, Audi4orce is right. One trick is to put the accelerator pedal to the floor, and try to start it. If that doesn't work...pull the plugs.

The battery posts are clean. But the spark plugs contaminated? How do they get contaminated? Thanks for the input.

The engine turns quickly. I believe the new battery is fine. I'll try your tip to decontaminate the plugs... however, what would explain the radion not working, yet all other electronics work? Thanks!

no indication on the radio interace at all...
it's just a dark screen, doesn't seem to have any juice running through it; just a dark, blank screen. Between this and the car not starting (again, engine turns, but doesn't start) it's very puzzling. I may have to get it towed to a dealer of a good mechanic in Walnut Creek, Ca.
