ABS problems, or is this normal? (more)

Got some more snow in the new england area so I was testing out the handling limits of my A4 in the parking lot... I noticed that when I hit the brakes hard, I felt the ABS kick in and the brake pedal started pumping... however, I noticed that the brake pumping felt pretty violent and "rough", along with a pretty noticable crunching sound. Is this "normal"? If not, does anyone know what might cause this? At first, I thought maybe the crunching sound was just the sound of crushing snow/ice as the wheels rolled over it, but it sounds a bit too loud to be that....

Think that's bad? Drive a Honda !!

My Integra GS-R's anti-lock brakes were much more "violent" than my A4's brakes. And they kicked in way too early.
I like the A4's ABS system much better.
