To align or not to align?

Was shopping for tires yesterday and the salesman says that I should really get a 4-wheel alignment done if replacing all four tires. Is this true? And if so, I've heard that it is best to take it to the Audi dealer. I don't tend to trust the guys selling me the service, so please give input.

depends on how the wear was on the old tires..

if it was even, then don't waste your money. If the tires wore unevenly, then you Must align
