Basically yes, but the Tip one has slightly different cutoff IIRC.

Default yes.... a VAG Tool can easily change those values.

I know they were able to change from manual to tip/vice versa, I am not sure of the fwd/quattro one 100%.

Default FWD and quattro does not matter either.

Even on the dbw cars you can do the same all within the same years.

Default To clarify - the hardware is 100% interchangeable, but the software is not.

It will work, but there are slight differences.

Default Slight as in not enough to even notice.

Funny thing is I have used a TIP tuned chip in a manual and it kicks ***.

Pretty much, but the high RPM mapping is different.

Default Most of the time, I found out the hard way that it doesn't always work.

I sold an ECU from a '99.0 A4 FWD tip to a guy who had a .98.5 qm, and it would not recode to manual at all. Dealer told me that there are a few ECUs out there that cannot be completely recoded.
