I have a late-model '98 A4 2.8Quattro, and I unfortunately fell for the Audi-branded pre-installed, hard-mounted car phone (1700 dollars later), that I believe Motorola made special for Audi. The great thing is that it utilizes the built-in speakers throughout the car, and has that James Bond sorta feel to it...chicks dig it, right? Well, it's 2003 almost, and it's time for me to jump into this whole digital cell phone world, and stop paying ridiculous rates for analog cell calls.

I have my eye on the new Kyocera 7135 Smartphone which uses 3 different CDMA modes, and combines a Palm OS PDA, blah blah blah...

What I need is to know whether/how I can rip out the old Audi manufactured analog phone, and replace it with a digital-capable CDMA setup, one that hopefully integrates nicely with the built-in speakers, so I don't lose the whole 007 appeal, which could render me totally 'chick-less'...

So, are there kits out there, maybe even made by Audi, for such conversion??? The less 'custom' it is, the better, though I know this forum is rife with 'custom' solutions. I will resort to that only if i have to...

i know there are articles out there and on ebay there might be some solutions, but i don't think they work the way you are intending it to (throughout the whole speaker system).

if you goto this link, coocoomike did some installation and wrote up some directions... you might want to check this out, even though it is custom...
