Anyone have any tips on how to get the torx screws removed. . .

that hold in the instrument cluster? I've pretty close to stripped them because they've been torqued in so tight.

1/4" ratchet, extension and T20 torx socket

Works for me every time I can't get the power with a screwdriver.

i yanked mine right out w ith just a normal screw driver t hat looked like a star, is that 'torx?

Carson (K03x2) 10-31-2005 02:53 PM

Probably

Most of the time the screwdriver works, but when its been tightened too much and extra leverage is needed, a ratchet is handy to have.

NP man....FWIW

A 1/4" rathchet set with torx drivers is VERY handy when working on pretty much any Audi. The extensive use of 8mm head bolts on the interior is a sign of that. I have from T10 to T25 in 1/4" bit sockets from Snap-On, as well as a mini screwdriver and pick set from Snap-On that is very, very handy to have.

Yeah, I'm going to pick up something like that tomorrow.
