Headlight connectors
I have a b5 audi s4, but i figured that its the same headlights and audi a4 is more common, therefore a higher chance someone may know whats going on with mine.
OK, so here goes.
I think my headlights were originally halogen, but someone decided to get xenon upgrade. Here is how the connector for the low beam xenon looks like:
And here is what it connects to in the housing:
But i just noticed the word valeo... so does that mean this is an aftermarket housing?
ANYWAYS, thats not my main concern.
I bought new headlights and its seems to me that the connectors are totally different yet its for the b5 model. Heres a picture:
If anyone can tell me whats going on, i would really appreciate it. Thanks

Oh and in the first pic, thats the connector that is attached to the car/ballast. It seems to have been spliced on there over a different connector that may have been there before. Im just confused.

Your original headlight looks right, and that's exactly the wiring/connector on B5 xenon setup (I have looked at two B5s).
Sometimes a problem will occur where the plastic connector that sits on the bulb will burn out or crack. To replace it you need the whole ballast, as Audi does not sell just the wire. It's all connected. Perhaps somebody got a hold of just the wire and spliced it in, as a theory.

The ballast on your old headlight doesn't look like it's original? Post some pics of it. Is that true for both sides or just one?
The connector, though, looks correct. If the ballasts were replaced, it makes sense that the wires were spliced.

yea both are the same, plu si think it says HID conversion on the ballast when i just looked at the picture again. So it is spliced on. What would i have to do to get either halogen or hid to work with the new headlight connector? bult type is h1 if it matters
