Another post said that g 052 145 a2 was the differential oil, but it didn't specifically say it was for the rear diff. I think the front diff uses ATF, correct?
My rear diff plug is also stuck, any hints?

I ended up paying a shop $100 to remove the rear diff fill plug.
I broke a mac and snap-on bit socket when trying to remove it. I'm assuming the shop welded something to it to get it out.

I stripped mine and ended up finding the biggest easy-out you've ever seen
cutting the tip off it so the end way even bigger. A little heat and the easy-out got it out. Getting it out was one of the most satisfying car repair experiences ever. I kept the plug with the easy-out still stuck in the end for over a month on a shelf

Haha, is the diff case ALuminum? I'm afraid that I'll crack it. Was planning on using a breaker
bar and an ebay "audi transmission removal socket". Are those junk or just as good?

I believe those are the ones for manual transmissions. For the differentials
it's something like a 10mm square drive hex. Sets of those are easy to come by. For the ATF drain\fill plug it is a 17mm square drive hex. Some people say their local store carried them. None of mine did. I ordered one from Mcmaster Carr for around $12.
