AUDI A6 2.7T 2003 O2 sensor
A6 Audi 2003 with 2.7T runs well but bad gas mileage in town 10 MPG, combine is 15 MPG. Is my O2 sensor bad and needs replacement?
Good idle, no vibration, good highway speed just bad mileage especially in town

Our mistake. We have all been posting A4 B5 in this section for years. We should have known better. I will personally attempt to do a better job if the future.
Is your A6 2.7 an auto or stick? Have you used a VAG COM to look at the specifics? What is the state of the fuel trim?

Since the car is old with 123260 miles, I suspected the O2 sensor had degraded or corroded. How many O2 sensors are there in this 2,7T V6? Thank you.

There are four. While it might solve the issue, why throw parts at it? Take it to an indi Audi repair shop that is familiar with this vintage, not the Audi dealer. They should be willing to put a VAG COM or similar and show you the info. If not you need to go to another Audi indi, until you find one who will. Then get their opinion of the car's needs. Even if you do the work the shop evaluation is worth some money.

VAG COM was connected, technician reported no fault code detected. If O2 sensors were out, there should be fault code. It would cost $500 to replace 2 Oxygen sensors in front. 6 spark plugs and air filter were replaced, car ran very powerful, only travelled 35 miles. Will know mileage today when refill gas tank.
I guess V6 2,7 Turbo used a lot of gas when it ages.
