Audi B5A4 1.8T Transmission Multifunction Switch Replacement Writeup
#31
hey I'm new to the website. I have a 98 Audi A4 2.8. A few days ago I was getting gas and after I turned on my car it wouldn't accelerate past 10 mph and it was sputtering. So I drove to a gas station right up the road and my car stalled and shut off and it took me an hour to turn it back on. I pulled into an O'Reillys and my car has been there for almost a week now. I tried to replace the mass airflow sensor, the air intake temp sensor. Nothing. I think It's either the fuel pump, fuel filter, purge valve, or the transmission range sensor (also known as the neutral safety switch). I went down today and checked the fuel pump and found that it's not that. Replaced the fuel filter and when I drained the fuel out of it, it was black. So I ran it and nothing. I'm almost 100% sure it's the transmission range sensor. I have 6 different check engine codes. They are P0411, P0118, P0113, P0102, P0705, and P0722. I got a new coolant temp sensor and installed it so that's not the issue. I replaced both the mass airflow sensor and the air intake temp sensor. So it's one of those 4 issues that it could be. I have a video of what happens when I try to start my car and what it sounds like once it's started. It wants to sputter between 1000-2000 rpms and when it's idling, if I press on the accelerator slowly the RPMs go down. If you have any ideas as to what it could be I'm all ears
