Default Aux Fan removal for access to Drive Belt Tensioner.

I need to remove a destroyed drive belt tensioner, but the Aux Elect Fan was in the way. Searched the archive and found this useful link explaining fan's quick disconect feature and yarded that pup out pronto. With the fan moved aside there's lottsa room. Might have squeeked a few more miles out of the tensioner/roller?

You have to put the front end in the service position and then it comes right out.

Default Did you remove the fan without using the service position???

If so that would be awesome, because I need to replace mine. I have a new one here but I am a little scared to put the front in the service position.

5cyl * 5valve = 25 valve = doesn't exist.

Default Foe-Git -Dat position !

<center><img src="http://home.comcast.net/~zydy1/Audi/tension/clip.jpg"></center><p>Nope. Just follow directions in link provided. The fan's "release clip" was slightly diff on my 99.5.

See attached pic. Also once the fan's housing is rotated it is still not free. Seems a disgruntled Hungarian auto-plant, slave laborer diabolically attached a wire's metal clip to the 6 o'clock postion of the housing. You'll have to phautz around with that before the housing lifts free.

Thanks to members QuattroKiwi and Elbecht for folding the trouble light.
