AVAILABILITY OF 99 A4 2.8 AVANTS
MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT MY ORDER FOR AN 99 2.8 A4 AVANT CONNOT BE FILLED BECAUSE AUDI WILL CEASE MAKING 2.8 AVANTS AND WILL MAKE ONLY 1.8 AVANTS.2.8 WILL BE RESERVED FOR A6 ONLY. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE CONFIRM THIS? I GOT A GOOD DEAL FROM THE DEALER: INVOICE + 5%. MAYBE HE WANTS TO WEASEL OUT OF IT? ANY THOUGHTS?
Re: AVAILABILITY OF 99 A4 2.8 AVANTS
What I heard is the 1.8T Avants will only be FWD. 2.8 Avants will continue but only in quattro trim. Did you order a non-quattro 2.8? That may be the issue. I would have someone do a dealer search for you looking for something close to what you want that is current at a dealer. Good luck.
BTW, pls type in lower case...upper case in the internet world means you are SHOUTING.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

Re: 1.8T Avant quattros
Steve -- I work at a daily newspaper, and the auto editor here left a Monroney (sp?) sticker on my desk the other day for a laser red 1.8T Avant qMS, so I would gather you can get the quattro on the four-holer. Hope I get to drive it this week!
BTW: The MSRP was $27,500, including delivery. An interesting thing: Keyless entry was listed under standard equipment, but the itemized MSRP listed "delete remote keyless entry" and knocked $190 off the bottom line. I guess the wagon has no remote function, but has the folding key fob.

"Keyless Delete" early '99.
You may see some early '99 production A4s on your
dealers' lots with "keyless delete" credit on the
window sticker; these are cars that were ordered
by dealers back in June-July without the convenience package, which at the time was
moonroof-keyless. When Audi decided to make keyless standard for '99, these cars "slipped
through the cracks," and thus the importer is
crediting those buyers appropriately. Somewhat
confusing, but better than having a few buyers
whining about no keyless.
