(B5) Audi 1.8T/2.8 Tuning (Turbocharging etc.)
what can you get more out of? An A4 1.8T or a 2.8? Can you add another Turbocharger to the 1.8T model? or can you add a Turbo to the 2.8? or would it just be better to shell out for the S4 (B5)?

As a practical matter though s4 are in the $6000-10000 range. You could spend a lot more money adding turbos to either the 1.8T or 2.8.
The PES supercharger seems to be a pretty reliable mod for the 2.8.
Two problems with the S4, a lot of these cars have been beat to death and any turbo work requires the engine to be removed.

it's and age old question. 1st search the forum. 1.8t can generate massive amounts of power.. so can the S4.. so could a 2.8 with a turbo however I'm not sure you realize how much work would have to go into making a 2.8 a turbocharged engine.
1.8t and 2.7t can be upgraded, chipped, flash tuned etc.. to create various amounts of power. There are 1.8t big turbo cars out there just as fast as stage 3 S4's - though its expensive. Massive turbo, custom tune, the usual.. larger injectors, custom intercooler work etc.. With the high power comes not only the price tag but the reliability factor and drive-ability factor. The bigger the turbo's the later the spool = sluggish around town in the city.
As for the 2.8 with a custom turbo set up, you would be looking at a great deal of fabrication work and tuning.. expect easily $2,000 for a CORRECT tune.
Stage 3 ish for all three:
1.8t - looking around 4k
2.7t - looking around 6k
2,8t - looking around 8k++ so many variables.
if you want reliable good power I'd stick with a 1.8t with an APR stage 3+ kit. solid out of the box power created to work properly. If you aren't good with teh tools then I'd pass on a highly modified S4 or even attempting to do a custom 2.8
just my long 2 cent.

supercharger = pretty expensive mod considering the power increase compared to other forced induction options. Turbos can be removed from the S4 without removing the engine.. however you need a lift and plenty of patience.

Im thinking now im gonna want something high performance, go stage 1 or maybe even 2, but keep it economical. i might be getting ahold of an S4(B5). is there any way to boost fuel economy on it without sacrificing too much performance?
