BOOST!!!
ok I know this has been covered many times but what is everyones thoughts on the boost guages. Elec vs Mech, size, brand, even color. Also mounting places (I.E. vents, pillar, steering wheel.) also I know I asked this one before but Im lazy and I dont feel like digging through the archives but who makes the pillar pods and who carries them. Also I know that the 01.5 has an airbag in the a-pillar but how would you go about mounting a pod on it???

Here's the lowdown...
For gauges here's what I've seen...
I use a greddy black face 60mm mechanical boost gauge. Simple install. All it is a vacuum line to the back of the gauge to the intake manifold and some power for the lighting and you're done. The electric ones also serve the same purpose except that there are peak/hold functions that allow you to view your peak boost and also set up a warning feature so once you hit a certain level, it'll let you know to let off the throttle. They light up green. The white face gauges light up green and the silver faced gauges light up red.
Autometer, VDO, SPI boost gauges only come in mechanical and works the same manner as the greddy. I've seen that the VDO has the greatest resemblence of the Audi interior. All comes in 2-1/16" size.
As for pods and mounting hardware, AWE as a vent mounted HKS gauge, TAP sells single gauge pods, and Autometer sells A-pillar mounted pods.
OR you can try the FAQ in the tech section. Be sure to mount it to the lowest portion of the A-pillar as there is an airbag back there and this minimizes the interference of its deployment.
Blitz also sells a dual turbo timer/boost gauge, but I don't know a whole lot about that.
