brakes...
Took my 2000 A4 1.8T in for service today. They told me my brakes are shot and all the rotors destroyed beyond machining. I asked why no one said anything about brakes when I brought it in for service 5k miles ago? They said brakes were ok then...I find it hard to believe that rotors never been machined and brakes that were ok can both get totally shot in 5k miles...

mine lasted to 75K , but your within reasonable limits
nothing lasts for ever. pads and rotors ware at the same rate, for stock set up. your brakes were find 5K ago, but they couldn't have cut your rotors then and been legal. this system sure beats changing pads and cutting rotors every 12K. $750 in 2000

I understand wear and tear and not objecting to that. What I am not happy about is that service
did not warn me that my brakes were going. I follow service schedules so I won't have these problems and I am thinking they neglected to check my brakes on previous checkups.

Re: i agree that would've been nice. it's hard to get good help!
Well, these guys are Pass and Weisz in Burlington, MA. I guess people can make up their own mind whether to avoid.
