Default buying audi assured from dealer vs private sale

I have the opportuninty to buy a blue a4 1.8t (98) with 50k km for 28k canadian. but i can buy the same car for like 25k from a private sale. Should i really buy the assured one? ive herd quite a few recalls and issues with the a4. Im keeping this car for a while, but if i buy assured my stage 3 isnt in the budget and it will **** my warranty anyway. Sooooooo, uh what should i do? Will the private sale really be a safe bet? I dont want those expesivse *** german repair bills.

hook a brotha up is 28k for a blue a4 1.8t, with sport seats, heated moon a good price?

Default it all depends

both cars they have to be check, I mean checked good, especially quattro, drive shaft, check for any leaks underneath the car... if you find out at either at dealer or private and they tell you that is easy fix, it's not ... will cost you $$$$ to fix it especially in canada, where dealer charge nice $$ per hour... another best thing is to go to carfax.com, and check if the car in the past had any problems, go to dealer or private get VIN# and pay $19.95 at www.carfax.com, and read info, it is really worth it, I did it here in Toronto, and I found few cars that had problems, and Audi dealer was selling them but before dealer told me the car was fine, no problems , ya right.....

Default I went Audi Assured on my 98.5

They ended up doing about US$900 of work on it, which was the price of the warranty. It saved me money up front, and I get a warranty included as an added bonus.

As part of the Assured warranty, they replace any wear item with 50% or less life left. For me this meant replacing the brakes (completely) and front tires.

I paid US$20k for a 98.5 1.8tqm with cold weather pack, roof, sport wheel, and 45k miles on it.
