Camshaft Positioning Sensor location on 30v 2.8?
Can anyone point me to the location of the Camshaft Positioning Sensors on the 30v? I dont have my Bentley yet.. Just had the timing belt replaced by a shop and the engine threw the following codes right after I picked up the car:
VAG-COM Version: Beta 308.1
Control Module Part Number: 4D0 907 551 AH
Component and/or Version: 2.8L V6/5V MOTR HS D02
Software Coding: 06201
Work Shop Code: WSC 40821
2 Faults Found:
17930 - Camshaft Adjustment: Bank 2: Malfunction
P1522 - 35-00 - -
17927 - Camshaft Adjustment: Bank 1: Malfunction
P1519 - 35-00 - -
They had just closed, so I drove home, pulled the codes, cleared them, and went out for another short drive, and the CEL came on again a few minutes later. Same exact DTCs.
The only reference to this I could find in the archives was fixed by reconnecting the CPS, but I haven't been able to find a schematic showing where it is.
Otherwise, I'll take it back to them tomorrow morning.

I pulled the engine covers and I didn't see anything unplugged...
There's two sensor plugs at the top of each valve cover, right above the TB covers, on each bank of the engine - I was thinking that those are probably the CPS but they did seem to be seated securely.
I don't even know why you'd unplug those for a TB change. First time around, I didn't unplug them.
They did use some kind of engine cleaner/degreaser - I was wondering whether that may have had something to do with it.
All in all they seemed quite proficient. I brought it to them because I was getting a ticking sound so I figured I botched something during my own TB replacement - and indeed, the water pump gasket was slowly leaking coolant on to the idler roller and dried coolant was starting to collect in the bearings.
So I can't imagine they did anything stupid like mess up the timing - I don't notice any difference in the engine response - but at the same time I don't really have any explanation myself.

Connecticut....
Not that I don't believe you, but what are you basing that statement on? Granted, the DTC descriptions are vague, but I wasn't leaping to that conclusion about them. Please explain..
