Can I drive with ABS module out of car?
I think I need to have my abs control module sent out for repair. Since this will likely take a week or two, Can I still drive with the unit unattached? I have searched, but since this is such an obvious thing to someone who knows, I haven't been able to find any information.
Thanks

You can but just won't have the ABS benefit; wheels can lock and slide on slippery surfaces. We drove our Passat without the unit while it was out at ModuleMaster. On dry roads there was no difference in how the car stopped.

From my readings there is a brake bias towards the rear when the ABS controller is malfunctioning or absent...but don't hold me to it. Surely someone with richer experience will clarify. In icy conditions, early rear-lock may be an issue. Here in sunny, warm NorCal, have not had issues and my controller has been shot for a year...fixing soon tho.
In answer to your question though, YES, you can drive without it.

As others have said, yes you can drive with it out of the car.
If your abs module was bad before you took it out (which I would assume), you will notice nothing different in the way your car brakes.
Module master recommends wrapping alluminum foil around the now exposed area where the module went on your car. I did this and had no problems.
