Default Can someone give me some insight of what "The Clip" in the front of the car is...

I went out today and met the insurance ajuster about my car. He said he can't tell right now on what they are going to do weather it is going to be fixed or totaled until it goes into the body shop and they can tear it apart.

I asked him about "the clip" and he said it was something that held everything in the front of the car together. Does anyone know anything further about this? I am sorry I have never heard of this before so any further info would be a great help. Thanks.

Default Could he mean the lock carrier?

Basically the whole front of the car attached to that.

Default umm.. maybe..

he could be talking about the whole plastic part at the top of radiator. You unscrew the bolts from it to take your front end off. If that's cracked i don't see how they could fix it, they'd have to buy you a new one.

see the part where my warning sticker is at the front of the engine. It's just beside the hood latch. That would be my guess to a clip. other then that.. i have no idea

Default Well if that is what he is talking about then...

I am pretty sure that is busted. Therefore the car will be totaled from what he said. I guess that part is pretty expensive to replace and I am ussuming it would be pretty hard to find on a a junkyard being most of those audi's are totaled as well.

Hmmm....Well I'll just have to wait to hear back from the body shop I suppose. Thanks for your help.

Default How exactly was it used? The "front clip" is a normal reference to...

... both fenders, the hood, the core support, grille, headlights, and bumper assembly.

People might say that there car needs a "front clip." This means all the exterior components forward of the cowl.

Somewhat slang. Is this what they mean?

Default Very well could...

He said something to the effect of "After they take the hood off, they will be able to tell if your clip is broken"

Default Sounds like an insurance underwriter, not a car guy...

the "clip" is what TEB said.
