friend of mine was driving his 98 1.8t manual quattro down the highway. he was going about 80, decided to take it up to just below 120. after he went above 115 he began to slow back down. as he was decellerating he noticed a CEL on...
car drives fine...
he's giac chipped, boost guage (he's running fine), custom exhaust, and a forge 007 DV......
any ideas?

As long as it is a steady lamp it's fine to drive for a bit. It's also likely it will go out if he
has the requisite number of driving cycles with no repeat of the fault.
If I was to bet, I'd bet he had misfires due to chopping the throttle ....
