For those who know the Princeton, NJ area, I was at the light to cross route 1 at the Washington Road/Princeton Hightstown Road. I was in the center lane going to Princeton, westbound. I had a Volvo Cross Country in front of me. I was wondering, if I should move to the left lane since both lanes can go straight. A Land Cruiser took that lane instead. The light turns green and the Land Cruiser proceeds across route 1 at a normal pace. A Camry going north bound on route 1 hits the Land Cruiser on the front quarter panel. I did not even hear the brakes on the Camry. The Land Cruiser is now north bound on route 1. The driver pulls off to the right and into the side street. The Camry clips the divider and end up in the middle lane of route 1 southbound facing the southbound traffic in the front fender of a Taurus. Front airbags went off in the Camry. I could not see if the Land Cruiser's airbags went off.

I pulled off into the gas station at the intersection. The Durango behind the Land Cruiser also pulls into the gas station. The Volvo sees us pull into the gas station and takes off. The guy in the Durango and I runs over to the Camry. There is an old lady, who can barely see over the steering wheel, in the driver's seat and, my guess, granddaughter in the passenger seat, both were OK just a little shook up. The middle age couple, in the Taurus, was shocked. Looks like the Taurus only have some scratches on the bumper. The wheel liner along with some fluid from the Camry is in the northbound side of route 1.

I don't know what made me not going to the left lane. If I were in that lane, I most likely would have hammered it across route 1. I usually would look to make sure that there are no vehicles coming both ways.

This is to remind everyone to look both ways before proceeding across any intersection.

 

What heppened to the land crusier, was everyone ok?

 

that realtor place is a great short cut to take when you dont feel like waiting to make the right.

There are a lot of accidents that happen there. I take it you were over by the gulf station heading

Should have made the right and gone to the next light and made the left... that takes you into princeton too ya know. Unless you're going to 206... in which case ignore that suggestion.

 

I gotta be careful the next i drive there...

I was going into downtown. I lived in the area for 8 years. I know the roads around here fairly well.

 

there are so many traffic lights in that few hundred feet that people who decide to run the first light will end up running the next light as well. too bad when they run the first light, it may be yellow, but by the time they get to the second light, it's red.

 

Yeeesh...say your prayers tonight, you dodged a bullet (camry) today!
