Default Complete brake replacement at 28,000 miles!

At 28,000 miles my 2001 1.8T started making what I thought was a brake noise in the rear. This puzzled me since an Audi 5000 I once had never needed rear brake service in the 84,000 miles I had it.

Dealer did not think it was a brake noise.

After they looked at it I was told that my car needed new brake pads and disks on ALL 4 wheels.
This seemed strange to me.

When I drove the repaired car I could not believe how well the car's handling had improved. It was a dramatic improvement. It was like the whole suspension and drive train had been replaced with new super improved systems. Even the auto trans operated dramatically better.

What would cause all the brake pads and disks to need replacement in just 28,000 miles. Was something else done to the car while it was in for this repair? Any thoughts on this?????

Sticky calipers, mad master cylinder, could have caused premature wear

Default did they show you the old parts? sounds like BS to me as for the rest it is all a head trip...

there is no way the rest of what you described is affect by the brakes.

Had mine done at 25K. Depends on driving style and use of ABS. ABS eats breaks when it pulses

Unless one was stuck.. It's amazng how a stuck rear brake will mess with the handling etc..

Default Ummm, your driving.

28K is not unreasonable, especially if you're heavy on the brakes. Even more so if you've got a tip (those of us with manual tend to employ engine braking more than the tip owners...and our gearing is set up for it as well).

If you said one corner (or maybe two) required replacement, I *might* entertain the idea of a part failure, but all 4?...it's more than likely you.
