Compressor shot, Avant in shop 'till next week . . .
My 98.5 Avant stalled at the signal at the end of the 110 North last night. Check engine and battery lights come on. I kill the lights, radio, and A/C compressor, manage to get it restarted, got it around the corner and out of the path of traffic, and it stalls again.
Roadside assistance shows up, I manage to start the car and the tow truck follows me up to Rusnak Pasadena. They are already closed and I leave the car in their driveway. This AM I go back. Early call-compressor is frozen. Car will start and run fine w/o A/C on, stalls when the compressor kicks in. Earliest they can fix it is next Monday or Tuesday. Till then, I have a nice GMC JIMMY. Yuck. It was either that or the stripped-down random subcompact. Chris, suffering from withdrawal |
Sorry to hear it
As a fellow Avant driver, I can appreciate your sense of withdrawal. Your frozen compressor (no pun intended) is a first for me on this board. How many miles do you have on that puppy?
