coolant expansion tank hose disconnected
The small coolant hose that connects to the very bottom of the expanson tank on my v6 97 a4q got disconected and when i put coolant/water in my tank it just comes out all over the engine. I have tried to search for a disconected hose but i cannot find one. Does any one know where that hose connects to in the engine so i can find that hose? (this is the hose that connect on the bottom of the tank near the coolant sensor)

The toothed belt should NOT be removed in order to take out the coolant thermostat.
The arrow markings on the coolant lines and the ends of the coolant hoses must align with each other.

Re: here is a pic & Cooling system components
thx for the pic. U see the two hoses runing out of the expansion tank. Those are the 2 that show up on all the pics ive seen, but the hose that got disconected is the one that is not in any pic nor in this one. It connects under the expansion tank and runs to somewhere in the car. Every audi has one, if you could check your car and see where that hose goes to i can fix my car! Thank you

this is from a 1.8T, but the expansion tank does not have any connections other than the two shown

in the origianl diag. I think that you mean the nozzle comming from the expansion tank shown in this pic here...that is a dud, and not connected to any thing.

ohh that is what i am talking about. Thx this really helps. 1 more thing though. My expansion tank is almost empty and when i put coolant/water in the expansion tank it comes out of the nossle on the bottom of the expansion tank all over the engine. I just got the car, am i doing something wrong??? should the nossle be pluged?

first of all start your reply in the subject...
where did you get the car from ? dealer or did you buy it private ?
Some one could have been playing with it... mine does not have a plug in it.

I just went and checked again, that nozle is for the coolant overflow

in the pic here you see that the opening to the expansion tank has a thinck rim, if you pour the stuff in the middle it will go in the tank, if you spill it into the ring around the hole, it will go down the bottom...
if that is not the case than I would say that some one has made a hole in your tank and you should get a new one.
I assume that you are saying that when you pour the stuff it leaks the other end right a way... or does it leak when you drive?
If it leaks when you drive your pressure cap might be dead.

that is exactly what it is
I was in a hurry and i poured the coolant fast and all i saw was the coolant pouring out of the tank and i thought a hose was disconnected. I dont know u but you took some of your time to help me out and i do appriciate that. You saved me alot of time and hassle. i know this seems minor, but thanks for the great help.
