coolant not taking from reservoir, overheating please help
My 99.5 A4 1.8t is over heating. I bleed it yesterday as i just changed the timing belt, water pump impeller, thermostat and all other belts. Yesterday i also replaced the over heating sensor behind the engine. It seem to bleed fine but it was not taking more coolant from the reservoir while it was spitting out coolant as i bleed it. After i turn the car off and come back in like a hour later the reservoir is lower. When
does the Aux fan come on? does anyone have any ideas? Anything would really help.

the Aux fan shouldn't really have anything to do with it...
mine rarely comes on. It sounds like to me, that you didn't bleed it correctly (you must have an air pocket somewhere). Also you probably know this, but just to make sure, you didn't just poor in the coolant and you mixed it with distilled water? Where did you get your directions from to bleed it?

Bentley has a great procedure for filling the coolant...
Dont know if you followed it or not- the fact that you went to bleed it is a good indicator that you have that procedure. Basically, raise the coolant tank about 10cm (Unscrew it first!) and start adding coolant while you bleed the system... You may need to turn on the heater to open the valves to the heater core.
If you did all this, when the engine is COLD, try unscrewing the plug at the bottom of the coolant pump... but only enough so coolant comes out. If nothing comes out, then either your coolant pump is bad or there's a blockage in the line (would explain the overheating). I had no prob when I did my TB on my 1.8t, but mine's an ATW engine, so it's a little different. I had a 90 where I had a similar problem- what fixed it was driving it for a bit (in MOVING/NO traffic with the heator on to prevent overheating), parking it for an hour or two with the hood up so it cools quicker, then adding coolant after the tank had drained some... just kept the level up to spec, adding coolant as needed, and it fixed it after about a week of driving.
