Crazy Revving Problem
I have a 2000 A4 1.8TQM. MTM Tuned. Recenly updated programming too...
Problem: I shift into second blip the gas lightly and sometimes (not all the time) the engine will rev up to 4-5, maybe 6K!! The car does not lurch , hesitate, or bog, literally, it feels as if it has dropped into neutral for a brief instant, Then it drops in RPM and drives normally. This happened before and after the MTM updating. I even replaced the Bypass valve with the Motorsport one from Hoppen. Still no fix.
Recently, I changed the timing belt, water pump, t-stat, etc. and all went well. ( so I don't think it's any thing there)
Also, about 4 months ago, while I was unavailable, my other half reported to me that the shifter wouldn't enagage, I suspected a bad clutch. I was bad. How bad?? It was cracked in half. Don't ask me how cause I have no friggin' clue. Any way some half-*** shop in FL did the work, I supplied the OEM Sachs clutch kit. I say half *** becuase they neglected to tighted the engine mounts!!! So Maybe there's something to think about there.
Sorry for the huge post but I can't think of anything else that would make this car do this. I'm currenlty in SoCal so if anyone has ideas on what I can do or a shop recommendation, I'm all ears. Anybody???
Thanks
