Default CVT info....

Discussion started a few threads down about CVT. The new 2002 Audi A4 will offer CVT in Front-Track only. Quattro CVT under development. Looks like some industry concern about the HP that a CVT system may be able to handle.

CVT technology (in easy to understand terms)

Default Re: CVT info....

Had one in my Civic...very smooth, if you floor it it just stays at redline. Floor it on the freeway and the needle just jumps to redline. But it was very slow of the line. It was designed to slip on take off so you dont damage the belts.

Default Audi claims their chain CVT offers superior durability...

over belt driven CVT's because it's a "chrome vanadium link-plate chain". They have a picture of it in their preliminary catalog and they claim its received 27 patents.
