Keep heating it a bit with a hairdryer....
to keep it soft. At some point it will harden though.
Work between the heat and Goo-Gone (I used WD-40). I used my fingernails and a cloth, but be very careful not to scratch your paint. You have to be patient.

that good off isn't very paint and plastic safe compared to goo gone.
PS, WD40 will work as well. Pop the trunk up, dose the area nice and good and let it sit for a good 30 minutes.
