Did some "work" on my interior tonight......
The beige colored fabric and plastic was pretty shotty looking, so I decided to try replacing it (on the suggestion of a friend). I used some black felt and spray paint bought from Walmart for a total of $5 for all the doors. Came out ok, except I messed up the paint job becuase I didn't let it dry completley, so I'm just going to redo that when I do the other doors. It also looks better in person and would look good if it wasn't dark out when I took the pics.
I know that the before pic is of the driver side rear door, but I forgot to take the before pic of the door I did the work on. Before: <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/74769/before1.jpg"> <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/74769/before2.jpg"> and After: <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/74769/after1.jpg"> <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/74769/after2.jpg"> <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/74769/after3.jpg"> You can see the major spot I fugged up in this ^ last pic. Overall it was pretty easy and came out good (except my little screw up- easily fixed though) I also don't know the long term usability of the door handle and wheather the paint will come off as I haven't tested it yet. Quess I'll find out. |

Very nice work!! Can't see the mistake.

you can get new finger plates that are black.
|
can you do more of a write up on the fabric? I am thinking about replacing mine with alcantera
How did you attach the fabric, and was there a padded backing that had to be replaced? Do you have any pictures of the work?

exactly

Money dictates procedure...
ie. my a/c compressor just went and I need to get it fixed, especially with the temps the way they've been in the northeast lately.

No pics of that work right now....
but when I do the rest of the doors I'll try to remember to take some. I took off most of the orange crap that is used to adhere the original lining, just a once over, and left a small layer of the orange to the point where it wasn't disintigrating and falling apart. Then I just used a special fabric adhesive on the new felt, it seemes to hold up pretty well. There is no padding there. I'll try to do a complete write up when I do the rest.

Lol. See response to qfrog 2c

For the future: Where can I pick some up?
when cash is a little better I'll do it right. The major change for me though, is the fabric. The other stuff was pretty dirty and hanging loose.
