Does a body kit look okay on a non-sport or non-lowered A4?

I don't think so ... here are some pics --->
There are so many things you can do to improve the appearence of your A4 before doing a body kit. I know the Projectzwo kit (front spoiler/bumper cover, side skirts, and rear valence) runs about $1,500. That'd go a long way toward tires and wheels or suspension upgrades.
Here are a couple pics from the Picture Poster of a '98.5 non-Sport with a body kit, and I think it looks kinda ridiculous (no offense to the owner).

There are several shots of this car in the Poster, all file names begin with "mywheels".
Hope that helps,

IMHO..It all depends on..
You should get the body kit first if you know you are going to drop the car for sure. if you drop the car first then get the body kit later, you may have some bad scrapes. Of course all this is cancelled if you get the coilovers that are adjustable. I have seen some of my friends get a kit and have it look perfect then get a drop, and destroy the kit. When you get the kit first, this leaves you the options of what kind of drop you can expect without the scraping.
i dunno if that made sense..or not..but it all makes sense in my mind =]

My post below is MIA ... here are the pics and my comments...
I honestly don't think a bone-stock non-Sport should not be outfitted with a body kit. I believe the following pics make my point. This is a non-Sport '98.5 and it looks a bit silly with the kit, given it's ride height and OE 16" wheels (no offense to the owner).

There are so many other things you could do to enhance the appearence and performance outside of a body kit. In fact, the $1,500 or so it would take to mount a kit (Projectzwo or equilvalent) would go a long way toward tires and wheels or a suspension upgrade.
Just my opinion...

You do or do not have the sport package?
If you have the 7spoke wheels I am assuming you got the sport package on the 1.8T. If so you should be ok. I would not do side skirts on a non-sport suspensioned car. The Oettinger one is not too radical...and the oettinger rear wing should be ok as well.

IMHO...don't do it.
It's a matter of preference/taste, but I really don't care for body kits on non-lowered cars. I'm planning on upgrading the suspension first, then maybe following with some rims. No body kit for me though. Looking into getting the black plastic pieces on the air dam, side, and rear valence painted to match rest of body. That should clean it up.
