ECS slotted rotors warped after 20,000 miles, normal?
I bought slotted rotors in July and used Carbotech Bobcat pads 20,000 miles ago and now they are warped and shaking like crazy when I brake. Is this normal. I called ECS and was told that I missed the 6 month warranty and that he'd give me 40 bucks of a new set. Trouble is, I'm afraid that if I have to go through this every 8 months I'll spend way too much on rotors. Should I take the money or go with a new brand? any input would be great FYI, I've never tracked the car, put all my miles on with highway driving (100 mi a day) and generally treat the car like a queen.

What kind of ECS slotted rotors?
I'm assuming that you don't have the trufloat two piece rotors, and have an OEM or equivalent slotted one piece rotor.
If you have a one piece rotor, then it is possible it's warped. It doesn't take much, and slotting of the rotor will weaken it slightly.
On the other hand, you may not have warped rotors at all, and it may simply be pad buildup.

See this FAQ about warped rotors on StopTech's Website.

same here.
Mine are warped. Slotted and drilled.
My fiances are warped too...standard rotors.
has me gun shy from buying from them again.
Changed them the middle of last summer. Not sure of the mileage.
I've not had warping issues like this in the past or this quickly.

what is garnet paper?
from the stoptech faq
f only a small amount of material has been transferred i.e. if the vibration is just starting, vigorous scrubbing with garnet paper may remove the deposit. As many deposits are not visible, scrub the entire friction surfaces thoroughly. Do not use regular sand paper or emery cloth as the aluminum oxide abrasive material will permeate the cast iron surface and make the condition worse. Do not bead blast or sand blast the discs for the same reason.

from another post above
I had a look at stoptech.com. You can can stock sized slotted rotors for $105 a piece...that makes them about $55 a pair more than ECS. Not sure if they are any better.
