Default Electrical issue killed starter and all windows?

I just recently pulled out my central locking pump and am getting a new one. My car decided not to start at all yesterday so i pop started it and it ran fine but all the windows wouldnt go down. Is there some common electrical issue that causes this or is the central locking pump related to the power windows. I assume the starter is completely unrelated to the locks but i would appreciate any help. Thanks!

The locking module also works the windows, so pulling it could disable the windows (I don't know for sure, but seems likely).

Another issue is i dont know if the key retracts from start on b5's because mine never did and maybe that could be the issue.

If the key is not moving back from start the switch is likely bad. It does have an internal spring.

Would i need a new key as well or is it seperate from the key hole and could this have killed the starter?

The electrical part is separate from the lock, it mounts on the back. And yes, a bad switch could keep the car from cranking. I would note that there are other issues that could keep it from cranking, however if your switch is not returning from start chances are good you need at least the switch, and you might be lucky and have that be the end of the problem.
