engine coolant temp sensor

Help! I am trying to replace my ECT sensor and I have the replacement part. Trouble is I can't find where it goes. I know about where it should be, rear engine on passenger side. Can anyone help out? I have 96' A-4 2.8 liter Quattro.

passenger side, below the intake tube, look down tehre, its blue. youll see it

you might have to remove the intake tube that is flexible since you don't really know where you are looking.

Thanks, about how far down from the intake tube and which direction, I don't see anything blue!

2 inches from the top of the valve cover.. look closely and you'll see it

I did mine last summer, I think I took a pic, it's hard to see, and you need woman hands to get to it...

WOW!

I found it buried! From the stuff I have read on this forum it sounded like an easy job to get to.. IT IS NOT!
Would take 3 hours of hose pulling and dismantling just to get to this damn thing. Think I'll live with the check engine light.
