Engine dies while idling
I have a 1996 A4 with the 2.8 V6. My car has been having idling problems. The car will be idling just fine at a stoplight and then for no reason the car will just die. Occassionally, the idle will become a bit choppy before it dies. I have put fuel injector cleaner in the tank and that didn't do anything. Any ideas what this is?

Check your vacuum hoses for cracks/hoses and also the plastic hoses going into the throttle body
plenum.
The rubber vacuum hoses should all be replaced. The material they are made of break down very easily. I replaced all of mine with Silicone for about $30 (go to a local auto parts store and get a bulk price on the hoses - don't order a kit $$$).
