Engine performance upgrades

Hi All,

I searched the archives, but I can't find an answer.

Without opening the engine and changing cams or other internal bits, what is the maximum power increase I can achieve with bolt on bits??

I have the GIAC chip and I want more!!

oh, BTW, I have a 2001 1.8T Tip(with tipchip too)
50K miles and new belts, tensioners and all that stuff.

Intake? Exhaust? Bigger Turbo?

Manual tranny? ;-)

Oh, take that stupid pre-screen out of your airbox!!!

There was a 2001 A4 1.8T with chip running 15.9-16.0 consistently at the drag strip this weekend.

We removed the pre-screen, cross-bars, and flap at bottom of airbox. Next run was 15.3. Now, granted his pre-screen was a little dirty, but still.. there's got to be some restriction there.

opening the flap would do the same thing I'd expect

one might suggest either a PES Stage 3 kit or APR Stage 3+...save your $ its worth it.

Or one might notice it's a tip tranny and leave those off ;-)

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I will start with a better exhaust and go from there. I suppose there is a turbo upgrade that will work with the tip and if it's out there, I'll find it.
