Default Ever get tired of the turbo "lag" on your Audi?

I really like my car but I think I have the wrong technique to drive it calmly. I always end up giving my passengers a "shock" because I reach my street driving speed just seconds after the turbo kicks in. The car is slightly thrown forward when the turbo kicks in and then I release the gas and the car stops accelerating too fast.

I tought the 1.8T turbo was supposed to have very little lag. Are other turbo cars really worse?

What do you do in city driving? Shift early when you have passengers?

No, I don't think turbo lag is that bad on the 1.8T.

Default feather the gas more...

the turbo only kicks in like that on me every now and again, most times is much more fluid...

maybe that means my chip just is working poorly

I have combated the turbo jump by just being more gentle on the gas, or watching the revs as the turbo will spin up, and adjusting accordingly

Default Sounds like you're flooring it to get up to speed, and then releasing suddenly...

You CAN shift at 2000 or 2500 rpms you know. I do it all the time and save a lot on gas.

Default Yeah. When I'm in a really relaxed mood I shift around 2300-2500...

but usually it's around 3000 at half or so throttle. The power really comes on in my car at 2800 rpms. I've never driven a 1.8T so I don't know how it feels, but I believe the urS4 has much more power down low, so maybe that's why it feels more natural to shift higher in the 1.8T.
