Exhaustive BOV/BPV Question, bare with me.
Okay...
I have searched the archives, read the FAQ etc. etc.
I have basically come to this... BOV will not work on the 1.8T because it will screw up the A/F ratio, causing a Rich Condition.
But what confuses me, is I see BOVs for sale with an adapter kit for the 1.8T, are these just not safe systems? Or do they require a custom burned chip?
I guess what I'm asking is...
Has anyone succesfully ran a BOV on the 1.8T w/ no Ill Side effects, and no performance loss???
I want a BOV (yes for sound) as Trivial as it seams, I think the intimidation factor of a BOV will help psych out the other racers
Anyway, please provide me what any info...
THANKS!!!!
sorry for the repeat topic.

Just because they're kits, doesn't mean they work properly...
...for instance, Rytek has a Blitz BOV kit for the 1.8T, but all that is is a flange for the BOV and the plumbing to be retrofitted in the stock BPV location.
Basically, if you want to run a BOV SAFELY, you'll need to switch from a MAF sensor to a MAP sensor. That in turn will require some modifications to the ECU or even upgrade to a custom aftermarket ECU to interpret the signal, possible tuning to get the right fuel curve, timing, etc...
Not very cost effective for a sound.
